In 2003, aging Boston hipsters were hung-over after New Years celebrations and decided we needed a new holiday for purposes of communal drinking. After much discussion, Jolliday was born. The rules, orange & purple shirts, Friday bar crawl, only two bars, and Saturday night party. Though called Jolliday, it is actually an entire weekend, and people flock to Boston to celebrate. Jolliday is celebrated on the last weekend of February each year, except for every 5th year is a leap year.
